
RUN ACROSS AUSTRALIA 2017 ”Steps for my Mom” – EN

We would like to inform you that ultrarunner Jozef Rajchl is about to start another extreme run, this time he intends to run 3 800 kilometers (2 361,21 miles) across Australia. This expedition is part of his long-term intention to run across all continents. It will also be an attempt of the fastest run across the continent of Australia on the route from Sydney to Perth. “I dedicate this expedition to my mom who suffers from Parkinson's disease. Therefore one of the goals of this event is to collect donations for international foundation TeamFox to support research for Parkinson's disease.” says Jozef Rajchl before start about the idea of the event.
Jozef Rajchl will start his run on January 8, 2017 at 8.00 a.m. from Opera House in Sydney and the expected finish in Perth, West Australia should be on February 20, 2017. The route leads on stone and asphalt roads and over one quarter through the desert as well. Daily mileage will be on average from 80 to 110 km (around two marathons a day) and all with daytime temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The runner will be supported by his expedition team (medic and technician) in accompanying vehicle. The ultrarunner has prepared for this expedition six pairs of running shoes and he will need about 7000 calories and at least five or more liters of sports drinks daily.
